In the background behind the wire are old letters written to my grandmother. Also parts of a map showing the area where the house is that she raised her kids in.
This is a piece I did in honor of my Grandmother Helene. She is Episcopalian. So this piece is to capture her. The pieces of jewelry including the cross are all her pieces.
Disclaimer~ I share no attachment to these religious pieces, but I wanted to honor all she holds dear and that hold her. I thought about not posting this piece because I actually find the cross very oppressive, but I thought that is not me being true to the artist I am if I am ashamed of what I feel moved to create.
